How-to Guide: Water Shut-Off

Modified on Tue, 29 Aug 2023 at 07:06 PM

Each suite has main shut-off valves (hot and cold) installed within the home to isolate the suite water supply from the main building supply in the event of an in-suite emergency.

All residents should be aware of their main shut-off valves’ location and operation. In addition, some suites may have shut-off valves to isolate a plumbing fixture from the in-suite water supply. They are generally located beneath the sink in the kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, there are shut-offs located in the laundry area and behind each toilet.

To minimize water damages, turn off the valve to the affected line. If the flow of water cannot be stopped, the property manager will have to turn off the water at the main water supply riser.

How to Turn Your Main Water Supply On or Off:

Locate the Main Water Shutoff Valve: This is typically located in your hallway or hallway closet hidden behind an access panel. You will see two valves – this is your hot and cold water supply.

Turn On the Water: To turn on the water supply, slowly turn the lever until it is parallel to the waterline. Take care not to force the lever. Repeat for the other valve.

Check for Leaks: After turning on the water supply, carefully inspect all faucets, fixtures, and visible pipes for any signs of leaks. If you notice any leaks, promptly turn off the water supply and seek assistance from Bosa Properties Customer Care.

Allow for Water Flow: It may take a few minutes for the water to flow through the pipes and reach all the fixtures in your home. Be patient, and gradually open each faucet to allow air to escape from the system.

Test Appliances: Once the water supply is restored, test all appliances connected to the water system, such as faucets, showers, toilets, and washing machines, to ensure they are working properly.

Turn Off the Water: To turn off the water supply, slowly turn the lever until it is perpendicular to the waterline. Repeat for the other valve.

Please note that you might experience temporary fluctuations in water pressure as the system stabilizes. If you encounter any issues or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us on the Homeowner Portal.
